Basecamp to The Climb: Junior High @ SIS-PIK
Junior High (Grades 7 and 8) at SIS-PIK serves as the Basecamp of our students’ journey toward the SIS Peak. It is a time of exploration, deeper academic challenge, and growing independence as students prepare for the demands of Upper Secondary and the internationally recognised IGCSE examinations in Grade 10.
Students are introduced to key subject areas and learning strategies that strengthen their academic confidence and critical thinking—setting them on a steady climb towards success in Cambridge IGCSE.
Laying the Foundations
for IGCSE Success
Junior High students begin working with the structure and expectations of the Cambridge system—developing subject mastery, analytical skills, and personal responsibility in their learning.
They study a wide range of subjects including English, Mathematics, Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), Humanities (Geography and Global Perspectives), and ICT. These form the basis for their IGCSE subject selection in Grades 9 and 10, where students will sit for externally benchmarked exams that are globally recognised.
This phase is key for building the academic habits, time management, and self-reflection required for formal qualification stages.

Growing Independence and Academic Ownership
Language remains central at SIS-PIK. Junior High students continue with trilingual learning in English, Mandarin, and Bahasa Indonesia —fostering both global fluency and national pride.
Through integrated language and literature studies, students learn to read critically, write clearly, and speak confidently in multiple contexts, setting the foundation for future language-based IGCSE subjects.
Preparing for the Future—Skills Beyond the Classroom
This is a time when students learn to manage themselves more independently. At SIS-PIK, we encourage self-directed learning through personal goal-setting, structured reflection, and regular academic mentoring.
With guided support, Junior High students begin taking more initiative—exploring how to approach complex tasks, work collaboratively, and develop their own voice. These skills are essential as they progress toward formal assessments and subject specialisation in Grades 9 and 10.
Multilingual Development
and Cultural Literacy
Beyond the academic framework, our Junior High programme introduces students to future-focused disciplines such as Computational Thinking, Artificial Intelligence, Design Thinking, and Entrepreneurial Mindset Development.
These areas are embedded into the SIS-PIK experience to build creativity, adaptability, and problem-solving skills. Alongside leadership opportunities, life skills, and co-curricular activities, students begin shaping their identity as learners and individuals—ready to take on the challenge of the IGCSE and beyond.
