English as an Additional Language (EAL) Coordinator
English as an Additional (EAL) Language Teacher

As part of our inclusive and academically rigorous environment, we are seeking two experienced educators to support the development of English language proficiency across the school. One role will focus primarily on supporting Primary-aged students, and the other on supporting High School students. One of these two roles will serve as the EAL Coordinator, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
– Deliver tailored English language support to students through 1:1 and small group sessions;
– Help students access the full curriculum by addressing language barriers;
– Assess English language levels using CEFR or equivalent frameworks and administer placement/baseline testing;
– Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and subject specialists to align support with academic goals;
– If required, run a programme of basic language acquisition classes for parents and other members of the school community.
For the EAL Coordinator Role:
– Undertake the tasks required of the EAL teacher;
– Reporting directly to the Head of School, lead and continuously improve the school-wide EAL support programme;
– Oversee administration and review of language baseline data to track student progress;
– Line-manage the EAL teacher(s) and coordinate provision across Primary and High School;
– Devise and implement a programme of both short-term intensive and continuous language support for students dependent on their needs;
– Review and prepare appropriate resources and materials for programme implementation;
Contribute to whole-school professional learning related to English language acquisition.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
– Holds a teaching qualification (TESOL, CELTA, PGCE/QTS with EAL focus or equivalent);
– Extensive experience teaching English as a Foreign/Additional Language;
– Understanding of CEFR or other internationally recognised language proficiency frameworks;
– Experience supporting students with a limited or low levels of English, especially those from Chinese-speaking backgrounds;
– Collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to SIS-PIK’s inclusive, values-driven culture.
